The Nintendo 3DS Set to Release in March

nintendo 3dsTo many people’s dismay, the Nintendo 3DS will not be out in time for Christmas, as Nintendo does not plan to release it until the end of March 2011. It is suspected that Nintendo might plan to release the 3DS in Japan for the holidays, but unfortunately we will simply have to wait patiently for it.

So what is all the hype about the 3DS you might ask? Well, it has the capabilities to output 3D graphics without needing 3D glasses. Nintendo has also organized to have classic games released in 3D form including: Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Donkey Kong Country, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Who know how expensive this new handheld game system will be, but I can guarantee that whatever the price is its going to sell. There has never been any piece of gaming equipment like this ever before.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a Nintendo 3DS. The concept is fascinating, but its something that will have to be seen in person so that your mind can fully grasp the wonder of the device. Many people will be sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear more information that is released about the 3DS. The little device is greatly anticipated by the entire gaming world.

The Newly Redesigned Xbox 360

new xbox 360Of course Microsoft couldn’t let Sony release their Playstation 3 Slim without giving them some competition. Their new Xbox 360 is sexier, sleeker, and less prone to problems than the original.

On Monday, Microsoft released their new Xbox 360 at the E3 press conference. Although it does not have a new name like the newest version of the PS3, it does have a multitude of new features. The first most noticeable difference with the new Xbox 360 would be the design. It is much smaller and sleeker than the original 360 and now features a sheen black gloss exterior. Although the shiny new Xbox does look sexier, you can expect fingerprints to cover its exterior the moment you pop it out of the box.

One criticism that many people had about the original Xbox 360 is that it seemed loud. You could definitely always tell when you accidentally left the console on. The new and improved 360 still hums slightly but is extremely quiet compared to its predecessor.

Basically, the new Xbox is replacing the Elite 360. It now offers 250 GB of storage standard. If you want to transfer your data from your current 360 to your new one, Microsoft is offering a data transfer cable for $19.95 that will allow you to connect your old hard drive to your new console with a USB cable. This makes data transfer pretty painless.

One of the most useful things to be found on the new Xbox 360 is the built-in WiFi. This has been one of the advantages that PS3 has had over Xbox, but it is an advantage that will no longer exist. Although PS3 does have free online play, unlike Xbox, that still keeps the Sony console slightly ahead of the Xbox 360 in my opinion.

Another thing that I was happy to hear about the new 360 is that Microsoft claims that it cannot get the dreaded “red ring of death.” Unfortunately, this doesn’t exactly mean that it can’t have issues though. Instead of displaying the red ring when there are problems with the console, the new 360 will display a variety of various combinations of green lights. I guess Microsoft just wanted to get away from the whole “red ring” criticism.

One last thing to note is that Microsoft has stated that they will no longer be producing the Original Xbox 360. Once the original consoles sell out, they are gone for good. So if you’re considering purchasing the original 360 for $199, you better do it quick.

Well, all around I’m pretty impressed with the new sleek Xbox 360. Microsoft has definitely made some great improvements. Although the 360 is really stepping it up, I still personally prefer PS3. You can get a PS3 slim with 250 GB of storage for $349.99, but basically it comes down to your personal preferences when choosing a console. If you think the new Xbox 360 sounds good to you, then you should check it out because it’s now available for $299.99.

GameGuard: An Anti-virus Program Designed for PC Gamers

gameguardIf you’re a gamer and you’re concerned with the possibility of malware issues, Rude Gameware has designed a new anti-virus program that has been designed specifically for PC gamers. Basically, GameGuard monitors and automatically updates virus and malware databases. This helps to protect gamers from spyware threats.

“Our team got so sick of having to disable our anti-virus while gaming, leaving our PC’s vulnerable for a crippling attack, that we set out to engineer a solution,” stated the Chief Rude Officer, Michael Epstein, “GameGuard gives gamers the protection they need without sacrificing the performance they demand.”

Now many anti-virus programs tend to bog down your computer which can affect gameplay. Also you may have had some issues with some pop-ups from other programs that require user attention while you are trying to play a game. Well, GameGuard completely avoids these issues. It doesn’t require the use of much memory, and it doesn’t allow pop-ups during gameplay. If you have any concerns about possible malware threats, then this is the software for you. It is now available for $29.95 and can be purchased boxed or as a download.

Dora the Explorer Coming to Your Console Soon

Dora the Explorer turns ten this year and Nickelodeon and 2K Play are celebrating in a big way - with a new line-up of video games! Your kids are sure to enjoy Dora's birthday and cooking adventures, as well as Diego's Mega Bloks on their various console.

Dora's Big Birthday Adventure will be available for Wii, Nintendo DS, and Playstation 2, while Dora's Cooking club will be available for the DS only. And Go, Diego, Go! Mega Blocks Build and Rescue will also be available for the DS.

"Partnering with 2K Play allows us to introduce fun and engaging video games that mirror the educational and problem-solving elements that can be found on both Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go!. As we commemorate Dora’s 10th Anniversary, we believe the new lineup will help young fans celebrate this milestone," said Shaan Kandawalla, the Vice President of Nickelodeon's digital retail games, in a press release.

Steve Lux, Vice President of business development for 2K Play said in the same press release, "We’re honored to be Nickelodeon’s partner as we join the worldwide celebration of Dora’s 10th Anniversary. When it comes to making games and connecting with our audience, we share a common mission with Dora the Explorer: we embrace adventure, learning and cultural diversity.”

So what can you expect from the new games? In Dora's Big Birthday Adventure, Dora and Boots will try to find their way out of Storybook Land in time for Dora's birthday party. Based on the Dora the Explorer 10th Anniversary event, which will air on Nickelodeon, little gamers can play as Dora or Boots as they travel through magical lands and work through challenges. If needed, parents can add a second controller to help their little ones through collaborative gameplay.

In Dora's Cooking Club, kids can work through Pre-K and Kindergarten math. Chop, stir, measure, sand sprinkle your way through 30 cooking games, as you make pizza, enchiladas, yogurt, and even berry Fruit Fiestas. Curriculum includes numbers, counting, shapes, patterns, and measurement, and allows parents to check their child's progress with each one.

Diego and Baby Jaguar will have their very first Mega Blocks game, Go, Diego, Go! Mega Bloks Build & Rescue. Players can help Diego rescue lost animals or build homes for them in various habitats. To build the homes, you have to collect Mega Bloks to build construction tools such as submarines, snowmobiles, and off-road trucks.

The games will include the actual voice actors from the television shows. They will be out in stores this November.
